The Day the Colors Came for Me

The first color that came for me was Yellow. It was warm like the summer sun, so I welcomed it in. I smiled with joy as I embraced the warmth like a hug from the universe.
Suddenly Red was there and I was burning. What was this that stirred within me?  What were these emotions running strong, threatening to overcome me?  I fought against the fever with all my might.

Then Blue washed over me like a wave of cold water. It cooled my intensity and for a moment I closed my eyes to enjoy the calmness. It wasn't long before I was sinking with little hope of escape.

That is where Green found me, wishing myself like others. Sickness overcame me as the world swirled around me. Damp and moldy, the moss left me grappling, grasping to get a hold of anything.

But Violet came and I was swept up into my mind. I could see far and wide and suddenly I knew my

path forward.

Orange came next like a glowing fire to warm my heart, shining its brightness upon me. I remembered

what cheerfulness was.

As the light faded into the Indigo abyss, I became aware that I stood on the edge of the universe, ready to embark on my journey.

Stars

She walked deep in the forest that night, leaving the lanterns of the town far behind her.  The moon had barely been a sliver in the darkness the last time she glimpsed it before the outline of the trees had become the canopy to her journey.

All around her the symphony of night played; staccato notes of the crickets, the overtures of the bats all drowning out the sound of the rushing river she sought.

As she grew closer to her prize, the roof of trees that had covered her since town slipped away to reveal the prize, they had hidden away from her. As she approached the water’s edge, she gazed up at the enchanted sky filled with stars.  It was an ocean of bright lights painted in shades of blue.
